Brenda Coates

Although not born in Fletcher both my parents were, as well as my grandparents, and many relatives. However, I was raised in Fletcher where I developed a deep connection to and love for the people and the land.  In my youth I remember walking along the railroad tracks from my home in the Brickton area to the book mobile in Fletcher where I loaded up with as many books as they would allow for the week.  This continual reading deepened my appreciation for the writings of local and southern authors and whetted my appetite for learning more about Fletcher’s history and the memorable folks who brought it into being.
