In the winter of 2008 FAHA sponsored a words and music event that featured the head of the music departments at Blue Ridge Community College and the head of the Blue Ridge Community College drama department in concert. One such event was the staging of author GailGodwin’s EVENINGS AT FIVE. This is a biography of sorts of this talented author with her husband, the renown contemporary composer Robert Starer, in which Godwin revisits her evenings at five when she and her husband met for drinks and discussion of their creative energies for the day. Fletcher Library opened its doors for the free performance with a local pianist and dramatist playing the parts of the composer and author. This was a magical evening for the residents of Fletcher that would never be forgotten.
